Oaia Road began with one person, who believed in the power of telling great stories without compromise.

On the west coast of New Zealand, with its sparkling black sands and rugged coastline, lay a 2km stretch of road in the small coastal community of Muriwai. This was the birthplace of creative entrepreneur and storyteller, Brad Stent.

From humble beginnings in 1999, Brad immersed himself in the creative industries, producing a local tourism show at the age of 15 for a community television station in his hometown of Auckland.

After almost 20 years producing commercials and corporate films in amongst other creative projects, it was time to move on from the world of advertising to pursue original, long-form storytelling.

In 2020, Oaia Road was founded with a mission to create original, inspirational stories, creative works and entertainment content. In particular, we aim to represent voices around the world that are not typically represented in mainstream entertainment.

While we may be small, our ambition is big. We believe in making affordable, world-class productions without costing the earth, literally.
